Apoderte Comunidad

Waves Ahead manages SAGE Puerto Rico and its LGBTQIA+ Senior Community Center. Sage Puerto Rico is a subsidiary of SAGE USA, which provides advocacy and services for aging LGBTQIA+ people. Arianna’s Center, an organization that engages, empowers and lifts up the trans community of South Florida, is partnering with Waves Ahead and SAGE Puerto Rico to implement Apoderte Comunidad, which is expanding HIV prevention services and education, outreach and linkage to care in Puerto Rico, and distribute in-home HIV testing kits to people at risk of acquiring HIV. The key communities the program seeks to engage include transgender women and men, non-binary individuals, aging LGBTQIA+ people, people who inject drugs and their sexual partners.
