Ending the HIV Epidemic in the Capital City

Big Bend Cares provides assistance to people living with HIV and conducts HIV prevention and education programs to the general community, in order to advance community wellness for all. Through capacity building and support services for disenfranchised communities, such as homeless and recently incarcerated people, the program is providing outreach through nontraditional HIV agencies.

Project ECHO: Ending HIV in Prisons

Health Through Walls is a non-profit organization based in Florida whose mission is to assist developing countries in implementing sustainable improvements in the healthcare services of their prisons, particularly through the identification, prevention and management of infectious and contagious disease, especially HIV and tuberculosis. Project ECHO: Ending HIV in Prisons is a two-pronged learning platform in correctional settings of resource-limited countries that seeks to engage prison systems in sharing best practices and learning strategies for managing, preventing, treating and ending the HIV epidemic in prisons. This free program provides virtual training programs to correctional clinicians and offers peer education programming to incarcerated persons with the objective of reducing new HIV infections and contributing to the eventual end of the HIV epidemic.

Getting to Zero with Pride

The Pride Center at Equality Park is a community center located in Wilton Manors, Florida, and for 28 years has served a diverse population in the community with a wide variety of programs and services. Getting to Zero with Pride is working to disseminate 300 home HIV test kits, engage and re-engage persons living with HIV into care, enroll clients into navigation services and offer additional support services and referrals.

Prevention 305

BIPOC Outreach Program

Prevention 305 works to end the dual epidemics of HIV and HIV stigma by expanding access to PrEP and bringing knowledge and empowerment to those who are most vulnerable to HIV in Spanish and English. Prevention 305's Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) Outreach Program works with 1) Black and Latino heterosexual men and 2) Black and Latino men who have sex with men, in collaboration with hair care professionals, to increase awareness and utilization of HIV and STI prevention tools. The program is enrolling 555 individuals at increased risk of acquiring HIV and hair care professionals in Miami-Dade County.
